Boo on Bell Street

Looking for something FUN to do on Halloween? Well, Shawnee has it. Every year, they hold Boo on Bell street(events on bell street and main). I've gone to this event with my family in past years, but this year I am the event photographer. I'll be walking around enjoying the festivities and taking photographs for the Safe events for families. www.safeventsforfamilies.org
I will also have my own spot set up on bell street from 3-6pm where I'll be taking photographs of children in their costumes!

October 25, 2008 EVENT SCHEDULE

A BARK IN THE PARK - 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM
Local Vet Dr. Marr & Dr. Roach Norman will be available for all your needs. Dr. Marr will be offering micro-chipping for your pets safety while Dr. Roach will offer vaccinations. The Norman Agility Club will have an agility course for your pets to compete. In addition Four Paws Pet Salon will be on hand doing nails and etc. along with Todd Johnson of Norvartis helping to answer questions and bring awareness on the importance of guarding against Heart Worms and how important shots are. This event will take place at Woodland Park.

KNIGHTS AUTO SHOW - 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM
Name the era, and there will probably be an automobile in representation of it. Check out cars from nearly every decade and vote for your favorite. This event will take place in the Twilight Zone area.

POTT COUNTY LEATHERS - Time is still to be determined
If you’re into to motorcycles then this is the show for you. Come see bikes of every make and model. Vote for your favorite bike. This event will take place in the Twilight Zone area.

SPOOKY TALES & FOLKLORE - 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM
In the warmth and comfort of the afternoon, stop in and listen to some creepy tales and the origins of several folk stories and superstitions. The event is sponsored by SEFF. This event will take place at Macabre Theatre which is located in the Twilight Zone area.

PUMPKIN PIE EATING CONTEST - 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM
How fast can you eat a pumpkin pie? Delta Café is hosting our first ever Pumpkin Pie Eating Contest. There will be three qualifying rounds with the semi-finals to follow with a Grand Champion emerging from this group. There will be a prize award to the Grand Champion. This event is located at the Twilight Zone area.

HEARSE PARADE - 3:30 PM
Come see a parade like no other in Oklahoma. See 8 Hearse from local and area funeral homes. See hearse from classic designs to horse drawn. This event will take place on Main Street.

PUMPKINVILLE MAIN STREET TRICK OR TREAT - 3:30 PM - 5:00 PM
This event is sponsored by Downtown Shawnee Merchants and SEFF Inc. This event is free and open to the public. Children ages 12 and under can trick-or-treat and participating downtown merchants. Trail is approximately three blocks long. This event will take place starting at Broadway and Main and will continue to Oklahoma and Main.

TWILIGHT CARNIVAL - 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM
This event is sponsored by SEFF Inc. Play all your favorite carnival games. Each booth is run by a separate non-profit organization, raising money for a number of worthy causes. Come play the many “old-fashion” carnival games, also come bounce to the moon on the two moon bounces. Twilight has much more to offer.

MACABRE THEATRE - 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM
This event is sponsored by SEFF Inc. Come and enjoy live entertainment by Liberty Creek Blue Grass Band along with Hillbilly Willies Sidewalk Circus. Come and enjoy live music and much, much more. This event is located in the Twilight Zone area.

HAYRIDE - 4:00 PM - 10:00 PM
C&H Carriage Rides sponsors this event. Take a ride down historical Bell Street nestled in a bed of hay for a fall fun ride around the downtown area.

REST IN PIECES COSTUME CONTEST - 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM
This event is sponsored by Restheaven Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens. Four Categories which included Children, Teen, Adult & Family. For the children there are four age group divisions will be offered they are Ages 0 - 1, Ages 2-3, Ages 4-6, Ages 7-9 and Ages 10-12. For teens there are four categories, most original, scariest, most creative and of course the grossest. For Adults there are three categories, best overall, most creative and most original. For the Family Division there is one category, best overall. Prizes will be awarded in each division. This event will take place at Macabre Theatre which is located in the Twilight Zone Area.

FRANKENMUTT HOWL-O-WEEN PET COSTUME CONTEST - 6:00 PM - 6:30 PM
Some dogs give you that look when you dress them up. You know the one. It says, “With all I do for you, this how you repay me.” Well, despite any possible pet trepidation, these are always a lot of fun. Which pet will take home the prize in the Howl-o-ween costume contest? You’ll just have to wait and see. The event is sponsored by Canine Companions for Independence - Red Earth Champions. This event will take place at Macabre Theatre which is located in the Twilight Zone Area.

NOTE: All dogs must have current vaccinations and rabies shots. All participants must sign waiver. All dogs must be on LEASH at all times. Female dogs in any state of heat will not be allowed to participate. Event officials reserve the right to refuse entry to aggressive animals.




SPIRITS OF SHAWNEE TERROR-TORY GHOST WALK - 6:00 PM - 11:00 PM
Join us on an eerie journey into Old Shawnee Town’s haunted past as you stroll 19th century neighborhoods of the historical district. Stories and legends of the unusual and supernatural are combined with the fun and fascinating history of our city. The tour is chock-full of old stories and legends of paranormal experiences. Tours will start at the Farmer’s Market at dark. Cost for the tours is as follows: Child admission is $4.00 and Adult admission is $6.00. This event is located in the Twilight Zone area and is a walking tour.

ZOMBIE ISLAND - 5:00 PM - 11:00 PM
New and improved to the Boo on Bell family is Zombie Island. Come hang out in the graveyard with some Ghost and Ghouls. Zombie has something to offer teens and the young at heart a place to hang out. Laser Tag, Shock Rock Bands and Tattoos are a few of the items one will find on the island of the dead. This event is located off Bell Street.

MYSTERY THEATER - 6:00 PM - 10:00 PM
For your dining enjoyment Mystery Theater has been added to this year’s event. Sit and enjoy your food while enjoying fall cartoons and movies. Total enjoyment for the entire family one and all. This event will take place at the Twilight Zone area.

LEAKY CAULDRON FOOD COURT - 10:00 AM - 11:00 PM
This event is sponsored by SEFF. Wonderful and spooky culinary delights will be served all day during the Boo on Bell. Items such as Indian Tacos, Fried Twinkies, BBQ, Burgers, Funnel Cakes and etc. The food court is located off Main on Bell Street.
